Dear Friends,
As you may know, I announced this summer that I will be stepping down at the end of November from my role as president after 32 years of service. Over the years I have had the privilege of working with thousands of individuals, businesses, nonprofits, and community groups who have contributed to improving Winston-Salem’s quality of life in areas as wide-ranging as human services, the arts, education, health, and racial equity. I leave this wonderful community, for now, with tremendous memories and friendships that have been forged through my work.
Finding the right time to step aside is never easy, but I believe in my heart that the best days for this organization and for our community are still ahead. New energy and vision at the helm of the Foundation will create space for new ideas and programs to flourish so that we can be an even stronger community resource and partner. In the meantime, this critical work will go forward under the leadership of a dedicated board and an exceptional staff.
I thank you for allowing me to be part of our uniquely philanthropic community for so many years, and I look forward to remaining connected with you through the work of The Winston-Salem Foundation.
With gratitude,
Scott F. Wierman
