Foundation Announces September Community Grants

The Winston-Salem Foundation announces 13 Community Grants totaling $222,240 that will touch the lives of many living in Forsyth County. This support is made possible by donors to the Foundation’s unrestricted funds and other flexible funds. Grants were awarded to organizations in the following program areas: arts and culture, community and economic development, health, environment, education, human services, and public interest.

  • A/perture Cinema - $17,500 for a full-time donor and community relations manager for a second year
  • Castle Heights Neighborhood Association - $700 for a neighborhood building art project
  • City with Dwellings - $16,500 for a full-time program director for a second year
  • Community Care Center for Forsyth County - $31,500 for a full-time director of development for a second year
  • Financial Pathways of the Piedmont - $25,300 to support the Asset Building Coalition
  • H.O.P.E. of Winston-Salem - $17,500 for a full-time executive director for a second year
  • Kaleideum - $17,640 to contract with an information technology consultant for a third year
  • Love Out Loud - $11,200 for the Pathways project for a second year
  • NC Cooperative Extension Service, Forsyth County - $4,000 to build social capital by expanding community gardens in Forsyth County and $4,000 to continue funding the restoration of the Arboretum at Tanglewood
  • Piedmont Wind Symphony - $8,400 to expand the executive director role to full-time for a second year
  • Simon Green Atkins Community Development Corporation - $65,000 for staff to manage the expansion of the business incubator facility
  • Veterans Yoga Project - $3,000 for a veterans yoga program for a second year
