CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT GRANTS
Capital Improvement Grants support Forsyth County nonprofits for time-limited projects to acquire, upgrade, and maintain physical assets such as property, buildings, technology, or equipment.
- ABC of NC – $25,000 to enhance the accessibility of website content
- Arts Council of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County – $25,000 to purchase new fundraising software
- Baptist Children's Homes of NC – $10,000 to upgrade two homes in Forsyth County for adults with special needs
- Boston-Thurmond Community Network –$25,000 to repair entryway and parking lot so it is accessible for people with disabilities
- Camel City Playhouse – $3,500 to improve ADA accessibility of the stage
- Caring House – $25,000 to expand the facility to provide more lodging for cancer patients from Forsyth County
- Child Care Resource Center – $20,000 to upgrade new workspace to better serve parents and child-care providers in Forsyth County
- Creative Corridors Coalition – $25,000 to support the Peter Oliver Pavilion
- Crisis Control Ministry – $25,000 to remodel the Kernersville office
- Enrichment Center –$ 25,000 to support grounds safety and beautification
- Fellowship Home of Winston-Salem NC – $25,000 to repair a water main break and the driveway
- Green Tree Peer Center – $25,000 to support a new facility with ADA compliance and fire safety codes
- IFB Solutions – $25,000 to expand the Winston-Salem facility and ensure ADA accessibility
- Keep Winston-Salem Beautiful – $16,000 for an ADA solar charging table in downtown Winston-Salem
- Love Community Development Corporation – $25,000 to support facility improvements
- Love Out Loud – $8,000 for CRM software and data migration
- Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central and Western NC – $1,554 to purchase marketing equipment (digital/video cameras) in support of Forsyth County wish families
- Miracles In Sight – $10,000 to create the Museum of Eye Banking at the new headquarters in Winston-Salem
- Mt. Zion Baptist Church – $25,000 for facility enhancements at Senior Life Enrichment Center
- Next Step Ministries – $25,000 to create a healing sanctuary with a wheelchair accessible deck shrubs, and flower beds
- North Carolina Black Repertory Company – $14,725 to create a functional and welcoming office space
- One Love Strong Foundation – $25,000 to purchase a van for outreach and programming
- Open Arms Community – $15,000 to support safety and aesthetic upgrades
- Red Feather Farm – $10,750 to purchase a new horse trailer to be used for rescue training and community events
- Rejuvenation Support Services, Inc. – $25,000 to support renovation of a transitional house for veterans experiencing homelessness
- Riverwood Therapeutic Riding Center – $25,000 to purchase horses for its therapeutic riding program
- Rural Hall Lifespan Center Inc. – $4,000 to install an ADA ramp, repair its bathroom, and purchase hot water heater and windows
- Salem Academy and College – $15,000 to install ADA-compliant entrances on campus
- Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC – $18,000 to establish a sensory garden with accessible community programming
- SECU Family House – $15,000 to renovate 41 bathrooms and install safe and accessible step in showers
- South Little League – $10,000 to make ADA sidewalk improvements
- The Dose Collective – $10,000 to enhance its facility and improve ADA accessibility
- Triad Restorative Justice – $25,000 to purchase a van to transport youth to programming
- United Health Centers – $25,000 to support grounds safety and beautification
- Youth Collaborative – $8,000 for furniture and classroom material
- YWCA of Winston-Salem/Forsyth County – $25,000 for facility repairs and improvements at the Best Choice Center

Focus Area Grants support local nonprofits who are working to advance equity in education and build an inclusive economy. These efforts are crucial to ensuring that Winston-Salem becomes a place where race no longer predicts life outcomes.

- Housing Justice Now Co-op – $20,000 for rehabilitation and maintenance of the Spring Street Housing Cooperative

- Neighbors for Better Neighborhoods – $20,000 for grassroots grantmaking

- United Way of Forsyth County – $75,000 to support trauma resilience training for Continuum of Care agencies

- Winston-Salem State University Foundation – $50,000 to support the teacher residency program
- Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools – $77,700 to support healing programs at Main Street Academy
- Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools – $10,000 for a stipend to lead the trauma-informed work at Main Street Academy

Small grants are available to organizations and groups with annual incomes of $150,000 or less.
- A New Day Community Care Services Inc – $2,000 to support a young mothers' support and educational program
- Black Law Students Association at Wake Forest School of Law – $1,000 to support the BLSA Sports Law Competition Team
- Building Resources in Disadvantaged Groups Through Economics – $1,500 to provide financial literacy programming in partnership with Project Re-entry at the Forsyth Correctional Facility
- Camel City Student Innovation – $1,000 to support the second annual Student Technology Competition and Expo
- CDC 4 Southern Winston-Salem – $2,000 to build social capital and support organizing efforts in the Southside Community
- CODA Connections, Inc. – $750 to provide direct assistance to children and families of deaf adults
- Gateway Nature Preserve – $2,000 to support efforts to make green spaces more accessible to BIPOC residents
- Hope To Thrive – $2,000 to support a literacy and gardening for food security program for youth at the Carver School Road Branch Library
- Kimberly Park Tennis Association – $1,350 to provide academic enrichment to youth in the tennis program
- NC EmpowerUp – $1,000 to support marketing activities for a youth publishing camp and to explore creative careers
- North Carolina District 2 Little League – $500 to support participation in the Southeast Regional Tournament for the Challenger Program for youth in Forsyth County with physical and development differences and abilities
- Out at the Movies – $1,940 to support the creation of an online education tool and in-person workshop to support emerging filmmakers
- Piedmont Shakespeare Company – $750 to support a free community performance of Shakespeare
- South Fork Panthers of Winston-Salem – $500 to support youth scholarships for post-season participation
- The Dream School – $2,000 to support a drone certification test preparation workshop
- Tori's Choice – $750 to support holiday community feeding activities
- True Hope Apostolic Church – $2,000 to provide financial literacy programming in the Easton community
- Virtual & In-Person Tutoring and Peer Guides Program – $500 to support the peer tutoring program
- Winston-Salem Permaculture Collective – $2,000 to support a neighborhood fruit tree planting program
