Professional advisors (attorneys, accountants, wealth advisors, and investment managers) are integral partners that connect the Foundation to philanthropic individuals and families. More than 80 guests joined us for our annual Appreciation Breakfast for Professional Advisors on September 19 to network and hear remarks from Foundation staff and partners. Our program included Foundation highlights from staff members LaTida Smith and Sheila Virgil and board chair Alison Ashe-Card, with added emphasis on the 100 year anniversary of the Foundation’s Student Aid program.
Amy Gardner, an accountant and partner at Lindsay & Gardner, reflected on her work with client Clark Chavous. Just 18 years old at the time, Chavous was one of four $1 million winners of the NC Covid-19 Vaccine Lottery in 2021. She generously donated a significant portion of her winnings to charity, including the establishment of a scholarship fund at the Foundation.
Wrapping up the program was Winston-Salem native Jasmine Pitts-Jones, currently an associate in litigation with Akerman LLP. She recounted the importance of her Foundation scholarship support as she attended Wake Forest University as an undergraduate, and then subsequently also attended law school there. Pitts-Jones currently serves as Vice President of The Forsyth County Bar Association, and she is involved in giving back to the community in a volunteer capacity.
We look forward to hosting this annual event again in September 2024.
