For his vigorous and passionate leadership on behalf of under-served children in our
community,

For the gift of his personal time and resources to improve the lives of people, particularly
young people, and his commitment to empower individuals to improve their
circumstances,

And especially for his philanthropic activities in the community, including his work with
the Marshall B Bass Children’s Fund, the Best Choice Center, and Winston-Salem State
University.

 

Allen Joines

For his many years of work as an unsung hero, committing his life to the betterment of
Winston-Salem, and for being a public servant with statesman-like abilities,

For his civility and accessibility, and for his skill at opening doors (and keeping them
open),

And especially for leveraging his connections to bring logic and efficiency to the
downtown redevelopment project.
